HeyJackass! - the most trustworthy crime stats in Chicago - brings us the November Wrap-up
One person was killed every 13 hours and 35 minutes in Chicago during the month of November.
We were looking for 50 homicides for the month therefore pushing off the nOt As bAd aS tHE NinTIes! 600th homicide until the first week of December. We’re still looking to wrap up 2023 with a final homicide tally of 640-650. Not great, but good enough for a “crime is down” proclamation come Jan 1, 2024.
Yes, things are slightly better than the past few years, with 53 homicides, and 185 shot and wounded in November 2023, but it is a far cry from 2013, when 28 people were killed, 111 wounded by gunfire.

Shot & Killed: 537
Shot & Wounded: 2356
Total Shot: 2893
Total Homicides: 595
