People will stop intervening in random attacks for fear of being arrested. Attacker pummels 60-year-old woman in NYC subway 50 times over 2 minutes with her own cane in shocking, caught-on-video beating
This seems to be exactly what the New York DAs want. Open season on the elderly.
He took her cane away from her, and he beat her with it, breaking the head off of it at one point. She was on the ground for most of the beating.
The shocking, two-minute video shows the unidentified male lunging at the woman with an umbrella and the woman trying to fight him off with her cane.
The suspect is able to grab the woman’s cane as she falls to the ground screaming.
If there is any good news to come out of this, the attacker has been identified, but not arrested. And the daughter of the victim has a few choice words. Cops ID suspect in shocking caught-on-video subway beating of NYC woman, as victim’s daughter says: ‘He shouldn’t be on the street’
“I’m hurt — it hurts,” her daughter, Lashanne Reese, 41, of the Bronx, told The Post on Tuesday. “That man could’ve killed my mother … You all did nothing. I have a problem with that.”
Reese — who works at Crisis Management System/Bronx Community Justice Center — said her mom’s attacker needs to go to jail and that he shouldn’t have been on the streets in the first place.
Authorities were able to ID the attacker from a somewhat blurry still image taken from a security camera. It is no surprise that this is not the first time he's come to the attention of police.
Blake has nine prior arrests for crimes such as drug possession, assault, trespassing, resisting arrest, tampering with evidence and possessing stolen property, law enforcement sources told The Post.
Though of course he hasn't been proven guilty at this point.
The comments on the first article contain several of the form, "This is what happens when you arrest people who try to step in; they don't step in." Every man and woman for themselves. I'm going to really miss living in a civilized society.
