Three incidents in a month. TV news reporter assaulted while live streaming from South Loop - CWB Chicago
At about 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, a Univision reporter and camera operator were setting up for a live shot from a shopping center in the 1300 block of South Canal when the reporter stepped a few feet away to go on Facebook Live, according to a source with knowledge of the incident.
As she was streaming, a man walked up to her and asked what she was doing. He then tried to grab her phone and grab her, saying, “You know I could kill you,” the source explained.
Although the reported was able to flag down a patrol car about 15 minutes later, she was told to call 311, the nonemergency number, and complete a report. Which she did, apparently.
The other two incidents consist of one directed at another Univision crew, and one directed at an ABC camera operator setting up to cover a news conference.
The companies are not saying what they are doing to protect crews. Short of armed security, I'm not sure what they can do.
Do you really believe that Media is going to admit they need guns? If they do hire armed security, they will never admit it, and I don't believe that they will hire armed security. They would have to admit they need guns at least to themselves.
I wonder if all of this will lead the mainstream media to report on the declines of law and order in Chicago. Probably not.
