Cops Behaving Badly is an Understatement

How long were they acting like this? How many people knew they were "The Goon Squad" and said nothing? 6 ex-Mississippi officers plead guilty to racist assault on 2 Black men | Fox News

The Justice Department launched its civil rights probe in February. The Mississippi attorney general’s office announced Thursday it had filed state charges against the six former officers, including assault, conspiracy and obstruction of justice.

Five former Rankin County Sheriff’s Department employees pleaded guilty, including Christian Dedmon, Hunter Elward, Brett McAlpin, Jeffrey Middleton and Daniel Opdyke. Joshua Hartfield, a former Richland police officer who was off duty when he participated in the raid, also pleaded guilty.

The cops used racial slurs, shocked the victims with stun guns, and more. You can click thru for the disgusting details.

They don't describe the evidence against the cops. My guess is that it was probably fairly conclusive, like security video or something, or they wouldn't have been charged, let alone taken a plea deal.

So how many times have they done similar things? How many cops knew they were out of control and said nothing? As long as there is even a hint that other cops knew - and they were called The Goon Squad, so people did know - no one is going to completely trust cops. Now there are a lot good cops, but there are a lot of cops who will turn a blind eye to crap like this because "brothers in blue" or some other crap. It boils down to an "Us versus Them" mentality, and then they are shocked when that mentality shows up on the other side of the divide.
