The homeowner and his father returned home to find a strange car in the driveway. He then found that someone had barricaded themselves inside the bathroom.
At this point I might have stood back, and called police, and just tried to make sure whoever it was didn't escape, but maybe things progressed to quickly for that.
The suspect allegedly fired one shot through the bathroom door with a revolver supposedly belonging to the homeowner. The homeowner then returned three shots with his own handgun, striking the suspect in both thighs with two of the shots.
Cops arrived and the bad guy was taken to the hospital. He faces charges including assault. I assume that they mean assault with a deadly weapon, but they don't say.
It seems like everyone involved believes that this is self-defense, though the journalist never mentions that word.
