Friday Links - 14 July

Cafe Hayek is up first with an economic freedom question. Do You Have a Right to a Yo-Yo?

In my latest column for AIER I ask some simple questions about a person’s right to acquire yo-yos and to produce and sell yo-yos.

Bookworm Room - What happened to Nigel Farage is England’s ultimate betrayal of its principles

The English banking system has betrayed Nigel Farage and, in doing so, also betrayed everything England once represented.

During WWII, when the Brits stood alone against fascism (a leftist ideology), they proudly sang, “There’ll Always Be An England.” At this point, I’m sorry to say, there is no longer an England, at least not the England for which that generation fought

Trust the Evidence - Intractable waiting lists

We are told that in the NHS in England, more than 7 million people are waiting for a hospital specialist or surgeon or whatever. Over 3 million patients wait over 18 weeks and 370 thousand over a year for treatment.

By any measure, these figures show we have an emergency on our hands - yes, a real one.

The Other McCain - CNN’s Idée Fixe

Why is CNN smearing Tuberville this way? Because after the Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade last year, the Biden administration decided that the Pentagon should help pregnant women in the military get abortions. In response to that policy, Tuberville since February has put a “hold” on military promotions (the Senate must approve all promotions of officers, under Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution). The Biden administration refuses to yield, and therefore what CNN calls Tuberville’s “blockade” has continued.

Legal Insurrection - LinkedIn Should End ‘Diversity in Recruiting’ Feature: “Discrimination by algorithm is still discrimination”

Equal Protection Project calls on LinkedIn to disable the DIR feature which injects race and other protected statuses into the candidate pools promoted by LinkedIn’s algorithms: “Discrimination by algorithm is still discrimination, and LinkedIn needs to stop.”

Beans at Chant du Départ - The Nail. On the Mars/Venus communication issue.

Instead of saying, "Can you get that box off the floor and put it away" she'll instead remind me of the famous pizza box episode (wherein I cleaned a whole room and vacuumed and dusted and left a pizza box in the middle of the room, hey, ADHD is a thin... Squirrel!) and then go on to how the box is... and that... and the other... and 5 minutes later I pick the box up and throw it away taking 1/100th the time she spent talking about the box and what to do with it.

Again from The Other McCain - Are YOU a ‘White Nationalist’?

It is no longer sufficient, given the circumstances, for liberals to point their fingers and scream “RAAAAACIST!” [SNIP]

As the “white supremacist” label gets worn out, now liberals have increasingly begun using “white nationalist,” thus taking a giant leap toward accusing people of being outright Nazis.

Lone Star Parson - Marine Le Pen On Fire

Ask yourselves, since when did being a patriot, and a country having borders equate with Fascism?

The Gateway Pundit - AS PREDICTED: Secret Service Concludes Cocaine Investigation – No Suspect Identified – ‘Cocaine Was Found in a Blind Spot For Surveillance Cameras’

Surprise, surprise! No suspect was identified.

Pixy Misa at Ambient Irony gets the last word with Daily News Stuff 12 July 2023: Pup And Cattybee Edition. Massachusetts was sued over a privacy destroying app.

According to the suit, the software was installed without the users' awareness or permission, reinstalled itself automatically if it was removed, and communicated with other nearby devices over Bluetooth.*

Massachusetts' Attorney General has filed for dismissal on the grounds that while they did indeed murder all those people, the point is moot because they are not murdering anyone at this precise moment in time.

Take a moment to admire the chutzpah while you are gathering the tar and feathers.
