The SPLC Protests Too Much

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) loves to accuse people of being domestic terrorists. It is good for fund-raising for the SPLC! Attorney among 23 charged with domestic terrorism in Atlanta ‘Cop City’ attack

I suppose the term "projection" might apply.

An attorney with the Southern Poverty Law Center is among the 23 protesters who have been charged with domestic terrorism after they allegedly hurled Molotov cocktails and fireworks at a future Atlanta police training facility, cops said Monday.

Thomas Webb Jurgens, 28, was one of the nearly two dozen people detained on Sunday in what police have described as a “coordinated attack” on the still-under-construction Atlanta Public Safety Training Center — dubbed “Cop City.”

Jurgens is a staff attorney with SPLC.

So how many groups did Thomas Webb Jurgens flag as extremists? Projection much? Now maybe Attorney Webb isn't in charge of identifying people as extremists or terrorists, but I still think the SPLC needs to clean its own house before it points figures at others. Glass Houses comes to mind.

The attack on the construction site included Molotov Cocktails, fireworks, and more. Some of the "protestors" also tried to blind officers with green lasers.

And an SPLC lawyer was right in the middle of it. I'm not advocating guilt by association, but I think SPLC needs to improve their interview and screening process.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp issued a statement condemning the violence, saying those involved “chose destruction and vandalism over legitimate protest.”

“As I’ve said before, domestic terrorism will NOT be tolerated in this state,” Kemp said. “We will not rest until those who use violence and intimidation for an extremist end are brought to full justice.”

And in case anyone has forgotten, the FBI relies on the SPLC to identify domestic terrorists. Here are the receipts on that: FBI To Retract Catholic Infiltration Memo, Conduct Internal Review

The FBI document cites various reports from the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), including the group’s list of “Radical Traditional Catholicism Hate Groups.” The SPLC has a history of targeting conservative groups, and has worked with major social media platforms to help them police “hate speech.”

That isn't the only conservative group the SPLC has labeled as extremist. Who gets to label the SPLC as extremist?
