The NYPD Exodus Continues

Is anyone surprised by this? NYPD cops resigning from force in 2023 at record pace

The shocking stats show 239 officers tapped out in January and February, a 36% spike from the 176 who fled in the same period last year and a disturbing 117% jump from the 110 in 2021, NYPD pension data show.

That’s the highest number of resignations for the first two months of a year since 250 members quit in 2007 during a contentious contract dispute.

Let's see. You vilify people. You attack them at every opportunity, and you are shocked that they are leaving? That you can't hire replacements is a surprise to you?

“Precinct cops are being forced to work an inhumane amount of overtime, including on their days off, while being penalized for minor uniform and administrative infractions.

“Meanwhile, precincts barely have enough personnel to meet the minimum required to safely answer 911 calls.”

Add in woke bail reform and a few other policies and they are heading for the exits.

There is a nice couple of paragraphs on the efforts made by Florida departments to recruit these guys.

Copy editing seems to have taken a break at the NY Post, so I won't quote the statistics. But it seems to say that 911 response times are up 1 minutes since December of 20202

The NYPD and the politicians are spouting boiler plate. I don't expect this to get fixed any time soon.
