Life is hard. Life is not fair. The sooner you learn that the better your life will be.
I think for three generations, a lot of American parents have tried to make life as easy as possible for their children, as - as much as possible, to eliminate pain, and they've done their children such a disservice that they have sort of crippled them for the rest of their lives. The earlier you know that it is not easy life, that life is difficult, the better it is.
It is sort of like psychological and moral antibodies.
Do helicopter parents mean well? Sure. So what?
Meaning well is as important as shoe size.
There is a lot in this 9 minute video. Wisdom asks "What works?" It doesn't ask, "Do you mean for it to work?" Most people mean well, even if they are complete screw-ups. What sounds good, often doesn't work.
