From The Other McCain we get an update on the House of Representatives Judiciary committee questioning of Matt Taibbi and Michael Shellenberger. Idiot Democrat From Houston Doesn’t Have the Faintest Clue Who Bari Weiss Is
You can be excused for not knowing who Bari Weiss is. You can be excused for not knowing about the Columbia Unbecoming controversy, in which a few professors, lead by Palistinian Joseph Massad, used their power in the classroom to harass and attack pro-Israel students. You can be excused for not knowing she worked at The Wall Street Journal and later at The New York Times, or that when she resigned from The Times she wrote an open letter saying that Times allowed her coworkers to harass her, and thereby created a hostile work environment, and the storm of controversy that created as the media closed ranks to protect the Times, and denigrate Weis, or that she claimed the editorial process around reporting at the Times was heavily slanted in one direction.
But if you're a Congresswoman, who is going to pursue a line of questioning about an individual during a committee meeting, there is no excuse for not doing a web search, or - if you're completely illiterate when it comes to modern technology - ask your staff to do the web search, before that meeting.
Like her Democratic colleagues on the subcommittee, Garcia seemed to be trying to promote a narrative that there must be some kind of sinister conspiracy behind the production of the “Twitter files” stories, so that by questioning how Taibbi and Shellenberger became involved, she was “exposing” something relevant. In fact, of course, this was just a diversion, a way of trying to deflect and distract attention from the content of what Taibbi and Shellenberger have reported about how government agencies pressured Twitter to censor and suppress information on the platform.
Mr. McCain sums up nicely with the following statement.
Which is to say, “If you want more Trump, this is how you get more Trump.” This danger seems to be invisible to Democrats, as Taibbi suggests.
