From AL dot com: Man who shot 3 people at Calera gas station was ‘laughing and smiling,’ survivor says
Laughing and smiling while he tired to kill people. Apparently he didn't want witnesses.
A mom drove her son to a nearby convenience store for a snack. A bottle of Coke and a candy bar. A guy in the parking lot started firing a semiautomatic rifle.
When Amanda [the mom] heard the shots, her husband said, she started to back up to get out of the line of fire.
“He (the suspect) saw her (Amanda) and looked her right in the eyes and started laughing and smiling and unloaded at least eight shots – eight shots hit the car – with a high-powered assault rifle,’’ Jared said.
Cody [the son], still inside the store, took cover in the beer cooler and called 911.
She was shot in the arm, but drove away. The bad-guy followed her at least part of the way home, where she called 911.
The family and the neighbors are in "shock." Apparently they didn't think that crime could happen in their neighborhood. Even Calera police Chief David Hyche seemed a bit suprised.
The cops were able to locate the bad-gu's car and have him in custody in a few minutes. The rifle was stolen.
Quashis Devon Turner, 38, is being held in the Shelby County Jail on multiple charges of attempted murder and discharging a firearm into a dwelling.
So what do you do with a guy who thinks attempted murder (and by extension murder) is funny?
Civilization was nice while it lasted.
