Tuesday Links - Saint Valentine's Day Edition

A somewhat abbreviated Links post today. Nothing to do with Saint Valentines Day, and a lot to do with how Real Life™ can rear up and bite you in the ass from time to time. I hope everyone has a good day.

The Other McCain is up first with James Baker’s Amnesia Problem

Something about being required to testify under oath seems to induce a strange type of amnesia among big-shot lawyers. The things they “cannot recall” are very specific, and they never deny anything without preceding their denial with the qualifying phrase “to the best of my recollection.”

Megan Fox at PJ Media is up next with Sydney Watson's Lawsuit Against Blaze Media Exposes Misogyny on the Right

Conservative, Inc. has a lot to answer for. It’s full of people who care more about their own fame and notoriety than they do about conservative values, and the fact that it’s coming apart is a good thing. Burn it down. Start over. What we really need is authenticity and principles, not outrage takes for clicks and fame. Our country is burning, the West is falling, and Con Inc. is protecting money-makers over values.

Da Techguy - Godwin’s Law needs a revision or a successor

Let’s move on to an interesting young man, Vince Dao. He’s a conservative who late last year participated in the Asian Americans Debate Model Minority & Asian Hate panel organized by Vice. Dao spoke with a level of common sense, so much so that most of the other participants, including a Bangladeshi American man and a Korean American woman with purple hair, appeared to be suffering coronary attacks as they had never been confronted with a logical discussion in their lives.

Wombat-socho - FMJRA 2.0: On Your Feet Or On Your Knees

Most live albums are a waste of time and money, but one of the awesome exceptions is the first live album by Blue Öyster Cult, which I bought before seeing them in concert

Cowboy State Daily - Why Modern Civilization Isn’t Possible Without Fossil Fuels

While there are efforts to shut down coal-fired power plants and replace them with non-carbon energy sources, it would be virtually impossible to power a cement plant with wind and solar. The same is true of plastics, ammonia and steel, all necessary for modern civilization, and all require the burning of fossil fuels to produce.

Terrapod at The Anti-Idiotarian Empire - Strategos

Do all this all in parallel, constantly while you prepare for the first objective, the taking of Taiwan. within a couple more years, perhaps just before the present government of your enemy is due to change, launch the invasion as they will do little to resist while having ever fewer resources to counter a massive force crossing the Fujian strait.

Impro Guns - Brazilian abominations

A Brazilian and perhaps improved take on two classic American firearms.

Again from The Other McCain - Why Nick Sirianni Cried

Many people have commented on Philadelphia Eagles Coach Nick Sirianni, who broke down in tears during the playing of “The Star-Spangled Banner” before Sunday’s Super Bowl. Some interpreted Sirianni’s tears as evidence of his heartfelt patriotism, whereas I know what he was really crying about:

NO MORE FOOTBALL UNTIL SEPTEMBER!

  1. As to live albums/dvds any of the main symphonic metal bands are amazing live and the crowds add to the ambiance. I'm thinking Nightwish, Epicam Withing Temptation, etc. Mono Inc's live in Dresden is also very good. Any of Ayreon's live shows are great Heilung's live shows are also treasures IMO.
