Before this song became a hit for Eric Clapton, it was written and recorded by J.J. Cale. Cale's version was released the year before Clapton's Slowhand album came out. A version of Clapton performing this song live hit 30 on the Billboard Top 100 in 1980. That was off the Just One Night live album, which is an incredible album.
Clapton recorded other songs by J.J. Cale, including "After Midnight."
