The Criminal Justice System and the mother of a murdered girl. Mother describes experience in court after her daughter was murdered
Her daughter was murdered. She pointed the cops at the ex-boyfriend.
Susan Stemper had to face her daughter’s killer in court for the next three years.
In this case he was sentenced to 34 years, so that is some level of justice.
There is a difference once that sentence is put in place, and you can put that aside and start focusing on trying to heal yourself and heal your family.
And she now works with an advocacy group, Parents of Murdered Children. Click thru for a link to that group and more information on what happened.
There is not a grand message from this post. It is just a worm's eye view of the Criminal Justice System. How it works, when it works.
