A jealous ex-boyfriend has been jailed for nine weeks for stalking after planting a covert Apple AirTag tracker on his ex-girlfriend's car.

Christopher Paul Trotman, 41, harassed his ex with constant phone calls and questions, before ordering an AirTag on Amazon and glueing it to her rear bumper to track her every move, a court heard.

Apple knows that this tech is subject to abuse, but apparently doesn't care.

At first he said, 'This is a joke,' before finally admitting: 'I did track her. I still love her.'

He was interviewed and released on bail but later arrested again over allegations of witness intimidation and remanded into custody.

Because nothing says "I love you" like obsessive, controlling behavior.

And 9 weeks is really only going to piss this guy off. It is at this point I usually recommend that victims of this kind of insanity should consider opting for a firearm, a case of ammo, and some training. And a concealed carry permit if such is available in your state. Or required. Constitutional Carry is a thing in Ohio and in a lot of states. But this case is from the UK, so self-defense is not an option. This woman is at the mercy of this asshole and the ability of the police to keep him in line. So, in other words, she's SOL.

If you have an iPhone it should notify you of AirTags that are in your vicinity. If you have an Android phone there are apps you can install that will check for AirTags in your location. Don't ignore this tech if you think you might have someone in your life who qualifies as a stalker.

This is only the most accessible of the tech for tracking cars and people. And its cheap.
