Law and Order are such 20th Century concepts. Along with Justice, and a few other things. Los Angeles 'flash mob' of looters caught on video ransacking 7-Eleven
A “flash mob” of looters were caught on camera ransacking a 7-Eleven in Los Angeles earlier this week — making off with handfuls of cigarettes, snacks and other goods, authorities said.
Police? You must be joking.
After exiting the store, the throngs of suspects quickly left the area before cops arrived, police said.
Suppose the cops had arrived and arrested 40% of the looters. Would any of them face any real consequences in Los Angeles? I mean, keeping criminals in jail is unfair.
It brings to mind "The Second Coming" by W. B. Yeats. Here is part of the first stanza:
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
