Friday Links - 22 July

Mike Rowe starts us off with In Another Time He Could Have Been a Star (Ep. 259). In which he interviews Rick Beato.

I’m not often flustered, but if you want to see me utterly baffled on camera, check out this clip from this week’s podcast. My guest is the great Rick Beato, a ridiculously talented musician who has become famous for his amazing YouTube series, “What Makes This Song Great,” (which you should all be sure to watch.) I’ve wanted to meet Rick from the day I watched his first episode, and was thrilled to interview him last week. But moments before we started recording, he told me we’d already met – twice.

Libs of TikTok is up next with the most insane story I've seen in a month: Lesbian bar shuts down one week after opening because they weren't woke enough

Doc Marie’s is a lesbian bar that opened on July 1st of this year with the hope of bringing more inclusivity to the city of Portland. But just one week after their grand opening they were forced to shut down because of complaints that the bar was not a “safe space.”

Jihad Watch - Justice for All? Over 50 Attacks on Pro-Life Groups Since May, and Not a Single Arrest

The latest beneficiaries of the Biden regime’s two-tier legal system are the pro-abortion fanatics who have attacked over 50 pro-life centers since May 8.

Don Surber - The Biden Dorktatorship

Most people consider this maladministration to be a kakistocracy, which is a government run by the worst, least qualified, or most unscrupulous citizens. This is a downgrade from Obama's kleptocracy, which is a government run by thieves who loot the country.

Pirate's Cove - Abortion Supporters Are Supposedly Moving To Blue States (With a bonus Musical Interlude!)

I’m leary that they and so many are actually going to abandon the Red states, especially if they had previously moved from a Blue state to escape the Blue state policies and taxation they voted for and were unhappy when they realized the policies were going to bone them in their own lives. And then advocated for the same moonbat garbage they escaped from.

The Other McCain - Biden Just Had Such Bad Luck, Y’all

Why is ["Doctor" Jill Biden's] husband such a helpless victim of bad luck? Why do these “problems of the moment” keep happening? Why are “so many things thrown his way”? Well, of course, it’s not as if the Leader of the Free World is actually powerless to influence events. Consider, for example, the Ukraine war. Robert Spencer notes that Jill Biden “did not address the likelihood that Putin invaded Ukraine because he saw with the withdrawal from Afghanistan that America’s political and military leadership was weak, distracted with wokeness, and both unable and unwilling to challenge him in any significant way.”

The Daley Gator - And then, they came for….Archeology

Leftists wage war on history because they want to impose their twisted ideology retroactively, not only on today’s world but also on the past.

Diogenes' Middle Finger - The Krazy Old Bat Warned Us. We Laughed.

Progressive philosophy is rooted in 19th century Marx and his extreme anti-democratic socialist philosophy, and radical social reformer and education philosopher, John Dewey, who believed education is the fundamental method of radical social progress and reform.

They are rooted early 20th century racist and eugenicists ideas of Margret Sanger, and the mid century sex researcher ∓ homosexual pedophile, Alfred Kinsey. Let's be clear, what progressives put forth is not progress as presented today.

Again from The Other McCain - Crazy People Are Dangerous

No matter how much sympathy one might have for “Tekie” Sundberg, the fact remains that he was armed and had fired shots that endangered this woman and her children. However, the incident that precipitated this standoff was not the first time Andrea Foss-Yarbrough had a problem with “Tekie” Sundberg. According to a GoFundMe page set up by her older sister, Sundberg “had been harassing her and stalking [Foss-Yarbrough] for months.” Gosh, isn’t it strange that the media covering this case haven’t followed up on that clue?

Professor David Yamane at Gun Curious - Light Over Heat #30: Overview of My Work on American Gun Culture. (And you should be reading his work/watching his videos.)

Because I am seeing more people watching these videos coming from outside my existing social networks, I thought I would celebrate #30 by giving a brief overview of my approach to American gun culture and highlight a few of my key works for those interested.

This Ain't Hell, But you can see it from here - Fewer vets recommending the service

A recent survey of veterans shows that we went from about three-quarters of vets recommending the military in 2019 down to less than two-thirds in 2021. I can’t imagine just what happened in those two years that could have driven down morale and enthusiasm.

One last entry from The Other McCain - Aspiring Rapper Updates. The first story is from Chicago.

It’s been a while since we updated our readers on the leisure life of the hiphop community, who have been keeping law enforcement busy.

Da Tech Guy - Reality catches up to Starbucks. Remember when Starbucks went woke and said that you didn't need to purchase anything to hang out? Reality didn't forget.

It seems the liberal owner of Starbucks has had a revelation: Realty doesn’t care how woke you are. This revelation came with a policy tweak:

I also suspect he is smart enough to realize that it is only a matter of time before an employee will be killed or maimed in one of those locations and the company’s national policy blamed and them sued.
