Lately I've been seeing a lot of stories about long waits for EMS after a 911 call. This is extreme. ‘I was praying they would hurry’: Calgary woman waits almost 3 hours for ambulance
"I couldn’t get up. I couldn't move. I knew something popped or (was) broken," Broad said.
Her friend tried to help her up but, he, too has limited mobility. He called 911 at around 2 p.m.
At 4:30 the friend call 911 again. They showed up at 4:40 PM.
"So for over two and a half hours, I laid on the ground in shock, shaking, crying and in extreme pain," she said.
This is a function of a lack of EMS and ambulance personnel, and long transfer times a hospitals.
Calling 911 is a fine thing to do, but their attention to your situation may not be everything you hoped for.
