The Non-prosecuting Attorneys of Cook County

Without consequences, behavior will not change. Prosecutors declined felony charges for pair found with $2.3K worth of shoplifted fragrances, CPD report says - CWB Chicago

These attorneys have jurisdiction over Chicago, Illinois.

When Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx feels pressure about her decision not to pursue felony charges for retail thefts of under $1,000 — even though the legal threshold for the charge is $300 — she pushes back. [SNIP]

So, why are two people whom police allegedly caught with over $2,300 worth of stolen perfume following a shoplifting raid at a South Loop store only charged with misdemeanors? Police reports say Chicago cops tried to get the duo charged with felonies, but Foxx’s office refused.

The were charged with misdemeanor theft of less than $500, and were released.

Bets on whether they go on to be honest citizens?

Justice? The State's Attorney office in Chicago seems bent on destroying the rule of law.
