Today's song was originally an instrumental song performed by saxophonist Mike Sharpe. It charted in 1967. Lyrics were added in for the 1968 single by the group Classics IV, and vocalist Dennis Yost. It has become a Halloween favorite with the addition of the lyrics.
This isn't either of the versions listed above. The version by Atlanta Rhythm Section hit 17 on the Billboard charts, and charted overseas a bit.
