Only the Septembers of 1992 and 1977 posted higher homicide tallies (109 & 97 respectively) than this September. Aside from that “misconception”, the reverse “downward trend” continues and of course, crime is down.
Crime is always down in Chicago, at least according to the Powers-That-Be, even when it isn't.
There were 90 people killed and an additional 405 people wounded in the City of Chicago in September. That compares to 84 killed and 325 wounded in 2020.
