How Serious Is Chicago About Stopping Crime?

Not very serious. Mercy is a wonderful value. But boneheaded (or should that be soft-headed?) naivete is not what we need from the Criminal Justice system.

Case in point: Man faces felony gun charge less than 48 hours after having gun case dropped in "restorative justice" court

In an effort (misguided, some might say) to offer young people a second chance, Cook County established "restorative justice court." Today's winner in that court had 4 felony gun charges dropped when he entered a “repair of harm agreement.”

Everything went great for almost a day and a half.

Early Sunday, police responded to a service station on the 300 block of West Chicago after an employee called 911 about a man in a car who refused to leave the lot, prosecutors said. Cops arrived and allegedly found Rodriguez asleep in the car with a loaded pistol sitting on his lap.

And while they are dropping felony gun charges left, right, and center, in Chicago, the Left will stand up and claim we need more gun laws. Which they probably also won't enforce in Chicago and Cook County.

  1. It is the new & improved Compton (California) plan. Compton was ~100% AA with ~100 homicides/year. California imported a Hispanic population (and their gangs). Compton is now ~60-70% Hispanic with almost no VIOLENT crime. The new gun laws are designed to threaten the White suburbans, since if those suburbans defend themselves, their family and their homes, the AA gangbangers may be reluctant to leave the cities, like Chicago, Baltimore, Saint Louis, etc. and the plan of importing a peaceful, useful new population may fail. That would destroy the future prospects of grift and profit.

You have to think at least 2 steps ahead to understand the concept.
