As we tweeted the other day, any total that comes in below last year’s record tally will be considered a “downward trend” by the Non-Essentials™ and allow for additional “Crime is not out of control in our city” (aka “crime is down”) platitudes.
June 2021: 82 killed, 415 wounded
June 2020: 98 killed, 464 wounded (record)
June 2019: 50 killed, 274 wounded
June 2018: 60 killed, 289 wounded

Probably the powers-that-be will be able to claim that crime is still down, even if it isn't quite.
