Fire on the Bayou

This song comes to us via WXRT's Saturday Morning Flashback, but it fits in nicely with the "Pop Music of Days Past is much better than what is produced today" line of discussion. Though to be fair, this song/album really didn't do too well in 1975. That is at least in part because the suits in 1975 had no more brain-power than the suits today, and didn't know how to promote it. (Similar problem was experienced by Pink Floyd prior to Dark Side of the Moon.) It got average-to-poor reviews in the music press, which was mostly being Rolling Stone Magazine in 1975.

This song is "Fire on the Bayou" by The Meters from their 1975 album Fire on the Bayou. At the time the album came out The Meters were opening for The Rolling Stones on their "Tour of the Amercias."
