Good thing this elderly couple still had the means to defend themselves. Cathedral City home invasion suspect shot by homeowner, police say
A guy breaks into a home and starts threatening the homeowners, who did manage to call 911.
The homeowners attempted to defuse the situation, but the intruder became agitated and made threats against their lives, according to police.
Officials said the 85-year-old homeowner then retrieved a firearm and shot the intruder in the upper body.
He probably thought threatening a couple in their 80s would be easy. Or he was just crazy.
Whatever the case, he was wrong. The bad guy is in a local hospital's intensive-care unit.
Without real means to defend themselves, the old and the infirm will be at the mercy of the young and the violent, the small will be at the mercy of the large. That is why we must have access to effective means of self-defense.
