Chicago Teachers - Massive No-show

Are we shocked? Chicago Public Schools fiasco continues: Just half of teachers show up to class as CTU threatens strike to keep schools closed – Wirepoints

Before you start to feel sorry for the teachers, because they are going to be in class, look at the following graphic, from the article above.

Is your salary going to go up 24% in the next few years? Do you still have a salary?

The politicians will be saying that we need to "spend more money on education." How much more? And are you going to get anything for the extra money?

Here is some data on the lethality of COVID-19, broken out by age group.

And then you can reflect on the fact that 77% of Chicago teachers are below the age of 50.

And the Archdioses of Chicago has its school system open. But the union says that doesn't mean anything, and won't even look at data.

6. Only two Chicago children aged 17 and younger have died from COVID-19 since the virus first appeared, according to the city of Chicago’s latest coronavirus data. While every death is a tragedy, fortunately Chicago’s children haven’t fallen victim to COVID-19. The long-term cost in lives and suffering of further depriving the 355,000 children of meaningful education undoubtedly would be far worse.

Hat tip to Second City Cop. It looks like SCC has locked down his blog to "invited readers only." I hope that changes.
