Well, that was a real shitshow. The year started off roughly inline with past average years and it wasn’t until the last weekend in May when the wheels came off. It took us days to get a final tally for that weekend (29 killed, 65 wounded) and it didn’t stop there.
There was a 52 percent increase in murders, and a 51 percent increase in non-fatal-shootings over 2019. So I think that statement is justifed.
The people of Chicago apparently like this. They just reelected Crimesha (Illinois State's Attorney for Cook County Kim Foxx). She has helped to remove all consequences for a whole range of criminal acts.
