Chicago’s Formerly Magnificent Mile

The store was looted at least twice last year. Macy’s closing Water Tower Place flagship store on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile

Though the State Street store was looted as well, and that is remaining open. For now.

Macy’s Water Tower Place has been honored to serve its customers on the Magnificent Mile for 45 years.

It was a flagship of Water Tower Place, which basically anchored the north end of the Magnificent Mile.

And they are not alone.

Macy’s departure adds to the growing list of vacant commercial space amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Empty stores, bars and restaurants could take years to fill, according to industry experts.

Macy’s announcement, which had been expected, comes less than a month after the Gap said it will vacate its three-story, Stanley Tigerman-designed flagship on Michigan Avenue at the end of January.

They actually refer to "waves" of business closures due to Chicago's and Illinois' insane COVID policies.

Hat tip to Second City Cop: Death Spiral Continues, who asks...

Will voters figure out that Groot has single-handedly destroyed what was once the premier shopping destination in the Midwest in a matter of months?

Probably not.

Doesn't matter if "voters" figure it out or not (many are dead anyway, I'm sure we can poll graveyards and get their opinion). Dial-A-Vote will have a say on the outcome of any election from this point on. That is clear..

The only thing that will result in change is if the dindus don't get their gibs.
