Chess Is a Blood Sport

Though this is more actual blood than you usually see spilled. British man stabs friend in brawl over heated chess match.

A British man was tossed in jail for stabbing his friend three times in a brawl over a heated game of chess, according to reports Thursday.

He mocked her ability to play, and her response was not what he expected. In the end, he tipped over the board, and then he stabbed her 3 times.

People call chess a game, but games involve chance. If you lose a chess match, it isn't because you didn't get the cards, or the dice fell the wrong way. If you lose a chess match it is because you are not as good as your opponent. While some people struggle with that aspect when they lose, this guy needs to learn how to be a gracious winner. Also given that she was so drunk at the time, she doesn't remember the game itself, I wonder why he thought it meant anything about her ability when sober.

For his emotional outburst, he has been sentenced to 3 years in prison.

Lewis pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding and will serve two-thirds of his three-year sentence before he’s eligible for parole.
