CWB Chicago has been counting the number of people who have to wait because the Liberal Mayor of Chicago doesn't like ShotSpotter. 2 critically injured shooting victims wait 8 minutes for someone to call 911 on a block once covered by ShotSpotter - CWB Chicago
I'm not surprised that no one called 911. Saddened? Yes. Surprised? No.
Two badly injured shooting victims appear to have waited at least eight minutes for someone to call 911 after they were shot in Bronzeville overnight. The shooting happened on a block once covered by the city’s ShotSpotter network, which Mayor Brandon Johnson shut down more than two years ago. The gunshot detection system notified Chicago police of gunshot locations even when humans did not. Johnson’s administration has yet to deliver the promised replacement.
The victims, a 19-year-old man shot in the head and a 15-year-old boy shot in the stomach, were found in a crashed vehicle near 50th Place and South Washington Park Court, directly behind Provident Hospital. The boy was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition.
Bronzeville is a neighborhood on the south side of Chicago. It is about 4 or 5 miles south of The Loop, on the lakeshore.

Brandon Body count closes in on 100!
SCC has more commentary. The story linked at the top of this post, has more information on what has happened since Chicago stopped using ShotSpotter, including names of victims. That is information you won't find in most of the media.
The ability to keep gunshot victims alive is based on several things. One of those things is how long it takes to get the victim to a trauma center. Eight minutes is enough time to bleed to death, if the injury is severe enough.
Technology isn't always the right choice. (See the story about the refrigerators in European grocery stores.) But this seems to be an instance where technology can make a real difference, which is probably why the Left hates it so much.
