In late October, WXRT's Saturday Morning Flashback was revisiting 2002. Doesn't seem appropriate in some ways, but it was 24 years ago. And we get a song I don't believe I had heard before.
I was disappointed in in the music from 2002 overall. There were some wonderful songs, but they were stuck in the middle of a bunch of songs that sounded like copies of each other. I have maintained for a few decades at this point that the suits running the American (and some of the British) music industry have tiny minds that can only copy what they saw 10 minutes ago.
Though 2002 was the year we got Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. We didn't know we were living through the golden age of cinema. Even the bad movies from that time are better than 99.4% of the drek we have gotten in the past decade‡. (What was the last comedy you really laughed at? What was the last Sci-Fi or Fantasy movie or TV show that was wonderful?)
And though I don't think you will need them, I am going to try to remember to include a link to the lyrics in posts going forward. It will probably not last.
This is "Fool's Game" by Bonnie Raitt from her 2002 album Silver Lining.
‡ It is almost like something happened in 2016 that caused Hollywood to lose its mind. I can't think what it might be. Though I know the woke was going strong before that. Even before GamerGate, the woke had invaded comics, and was moving into movies and TV.
