It can be hard to tell with Blue States. Suspect in Brighton homicide won’t face charges as DA ‘cannot disprove self-defense’ in deadly shooting
There was a shooting, and the guy who got shot, died at a local hospital. Police arrested 18-year-old Jeness Torres, but the prosecutor dismissed the charges.
After a thorough investigation of the evidence, however, “our office determined that the facts do not support the filing of criminal charges, as we cannot disprove self-defense or defense of others in this incident,” said a spokesperson for the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
Brighton, Colorado, is a suburb of Denver, being about 10 miles northeast of downtown.
Considering that this incident took place on Sunday, the 13th, and this decision was announced four days lated on the 17th, I would have to say that this prosecutor's office is working at warp speed. It can take DAs months to make this determination, even in the face of overwhelming evidence.
Self-defense is a human right, and it just might be your legal right in Colorado.
Notice the wording from the Persecutor....they "cannot disprove self defense or defense of others"....they would LIKE TOO....but can't.
