From the Crime Prevention Research Center: Colombia Lifting of Restrictions on the Carrying of Firearms
On September 8, 2026, President Abelardo De la Espriella signed Decree 1368, lifting Colombia’s nationwide suspension of permits to carry firearms. The decree ends the general prohibition on firearm-carry permits that Colombia had maintained since 2014.
It follows the example of Brazil, and that country's president Bolsonaro, which has seen murders in Brazil fall dramatically.
Colombia is not lifting all restrictions, and there are a lot, but every little bit helps.
Law abiding people should be able to protect themselves, because when seconds count, police are only minutes away.
Spelling matters. Colombia is a country in South America. Columbia was a record club from the 1970s, that was easy to join, and impossible to quit.
