Every major Jewish organization with a formal firearms position, from the ADL to the Orthodox Union, supports gun restrictions. A separate set of smaller Jewish groups supports gun rights instead, and none of them sits at the national policy table.
I thought that would change after the attacks on synagogues, schools and Jewish businesses. If synagogues have done anything, they have mostly opted for armed security.

There are now Jewish gun clubs in at least 24 states. One of them partnered with the National Rifle Association in April 2026. One of them sued the governor of New York to carry a pistol into a synagogue. One of them assembled twelve rabbis in 2014 to formally refute the Orthodox Union and the Rabbinical Council of America on Jewish law and firearms.
