Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas"

The Left hates County Music. Not just the music, but the fact that it is mostly wholesome in its message. From The Baltimore Sun: How Ella Langley’s ‘Choosin’ Texas’ became the longest-running No. 1 hit of all time.

Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas,” a simmering, midtempo, country-and-then-some heartbreak song released last October, is indisputably 2026’s biggest hit.

“Choosin’ Texas” is also the longest-running No. 1 hit in the U.S., having spent 23 weeks at the top spot on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, it was announced Tuesday.

That means the track has surpassed various records set by Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road,” Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” and most impressively, Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” Her holiday classic held the previous record, with 22 weeks at No. 1.

The article linked above does a pretty good job of analyzing the musicality, and the lyrics of the song. They do try to throw some shade at Langley for not being as well known as either Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey when their songs topped the charts, but Langley's career started in 2023, this is her first big hit, and most people don't know the names of bands, aside for a few monster groups like The Rolling Stones, and the Zoomers don't even know them.

In years 2020 through 2023 Rap was 34% of songs reaching the Billboard Top 10, while Country Music was 7%. In 2025 through 2026 Country Music is 27% of charting songs, and Rap is 17%. That is a cultural shift.
