Electrical Vehicle Fire in a Service Center

The tl;dr message: A fire extinguisher is NOT going to put out an electric vehicle battery fire when the battery is in Thermal Runaway.

  1. Although the video doesn't say this in these few words, people need to know it: that scene could be in your garage, too. And if that's in your garage, you'll be lucky to have a house to live in.

    There's no guarantee you'll bring your EV to a garage for something that leads to the fire. It happens. The second safest place to park an EV is as far from your house as possible. Maybe the far end of your driveway, depending on how it's laid out. The safest place is at the factory because you didn't buy the EV in the first place.

    1. I haven't seen any of the "EV fires are rare" stats thrown around recently. That is probably changing as the batteries age, get banged up and generally degrade. And as you said, they are not easy to put out once started.
