Volvo EV Fire Risk

From the Daily Mail: Fire-risk Volvo EV owners told not to fully charge for 5 months

More than 10,000 electric Volvo owners have been stuck for months with family cars that barely manage to cover 150 miles before running out of charge - after the manufacturer imposed strict charging restrictions on safety grounds.

Volvo said DO NOT charge beyond 70% full, because this could cause batteries to overheat and catch fire. The owners were also told to not leave the car unattended while on charge. That means you can't hook it up in your garage (assuming you have one) overnight. Oh, and don't charge your car in your garage, because there is too much chance it will burn your house down.

The cars were originally advertised to have a 280 mile range.

Furious drivers have told This is Money the problem has become a 'constant inconvenience' - with some already considering a return to petrol or diesel.

There is more. Volvo offered customers £200 vouchers for public charging costs, but after 5 months, those are mostly gone.

There are a number of statements made by Volvo owners.
