If you don't follow pop culture as much as I do, you might not know that Anthony Mackie (Black Captain America/Falcon from the MCU) starred in an "Epic," historical movie set in the Middle East, titled Desert Warrior. It was a disaster from a financial point of view. I haven't seen it, but the reviews are insane.
It seems that Saudi Arabia is trying to create its own version of Hollywood. Unfortunately they have hired a bunch of people from Hollywood, and those folks are making all the same mistakes.
This is a girlboss movie set in the Historical Middle East. Who exactly would want to see that? Americans, and the folks in the West generally, are sick-to-death of girlboss movies. And why would conservative Middle Easterners want to see such a thing?
