Friday Links - 10 April

The Other McCain starts us off with It Would Be Wrong to Say Democrats Are Going Completely Crazy Today …

[Krystal Ball is] basically repeating Iranian propaganda here, demanding a military coup d’etat against the President of the United States. To repeat what I previously said, nobody knows exactly what Trump’s rhetoric signifies, and while we could speculate about what Trump intends to do, my hunch is that it’s nothing that would justify the “military revolt” that Krystal Ball is calling for.

Daily Caller - Professor Of Islamic Civilization Says ‘Get Over It’ To Concerns About Rape Gang Crisis

A Georgetown University professor is under fire for telling people who share concerns about Muslim “rape gangs” to “get over it.”

George Shay at Chicago Contrarian - The Chicago Sun-Times Hits Rock Bottom

Neil Steinberg turns a murdered Loyola student into a prop for his immigration sermon — and calls it journalism

Professor Yamane at Light Over Heat - Illuminations #6. Lock, Stock, and a Lot Going On. (The video is interesting, espeically if you have not seen Professor Yamane's presentation on the 5 facts about gun culture.)

I returned virtually to my M.S. and Ph.D. alma mater, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, to speak to students of Dr. James Bigham (see more in “Light Over Heat” below) about “Five Essential Observations on Guns in America.” I provided a broad overview of the central findings of my 14 years of study in about 30 minutes.

The Silicon Graybeard - Catching up a bit

The flood of data from the Artemis 2 flyby is being posted in glorious high definition, and large files to NASA's usual places: Flickr, and NASA's images page. Artemis II has its own "Mission Science Page" that features some nice photos, too, just not strictly the flyby pictures.

Again from The Other McCain - Trump Declares Ceasefire in Iran

During Tuesday’s liberal freakout, Democrats were denouncing President Trump as a genocidal maniac because of his threats to destroy Iran. Then, about an hour before the 8 p.m. deadline he’d given the Iranian regime, Trump announced that a deal had been reached for a ceasefire

Meep at STUMP - April 2026: Testicular Cancer Awareness Month

As long-time readers know, I support the Movember Foundation, primarily due to their association with prostate cancer issues.

However, they broadly support men’s health issues, which includes testicular cancer…

Pixy Misa at Ambient Irony - Daily News Stuff 8 April 2026: Terabyte Edition

Anthropic has unveiled Claude Mythos, a version of its AI system aimed at security analysis. (Security Week)

This is good and bad.

Good because developers can use it to find security flaws in their code.

Bad because so can everybody else.

Midwest Chick's Place - Why the Afroman lawsuit was important

Fast forward to the early 2020’s and the local gendarme actually got a warrant to search for weed and a ‘kidnapping victim’ in Afroman’s home. It was a pretty destructive search and the coppers in question showed themselves on his video system to be, IMO, totally unprofessional

In the MIDDLE of the RIGHT - I think we should absolutely do it

Were it me, I’d pull all personnel and all equipment off the base, and destroy everything that the US had bult at those airports….buildings, refueling, fuel storage, and runways. Let the explosives engineers have fun. Leave nothing that the US built since the inception of NATO.

The Silicon Graybeard - We're in the final 24 hours of Artemis 2

The crew is in the final hours of their mission, which will end Friday evening East Coast time, right around midnight UTC.
