From WAFB Baton Rouge, there is an update on a story from the first week of February. I-TEAM: Man jailed for stolen gun that was legal sues police department
This is completely expected.
A man is suing the New Roads Police Department after his arrest for allegedly possessing a firearm that the New Roads Police Department claimed was stolen. It was not.
For my initial post on this incident, see this link.
The geniuses that work at the New Roads Police Department apparently don't know how to run the serial number of a stolen gun. They in fact, did NOT run the serial number.
The WAFB I-TEAM first to report that the officer involved ran the patent number and not the serial number, which caused the gun to come back stolen. Livingston was arrested and spent 20 hours in jail.
That is a new level of stupid.
And to add some icing to the cake, the local news organization did some investigating and found a whole bunch of 'fun stuff' going on in the New Roads Police Department. For all of those details I refer you to Liberty Doll and her video UPDATE: Man Jailed for "Stolen" Legal Gun.
