It can cause you to do stuff that results in you getting shot. South Dakota Resident Awakes to Noises, Shoots Alleged Intruder
A Rapid City, South Dakota, resident awoke to noises shortly before 3:30 a.m. and shot an alleged intruder who was attempting to make entry through a window.
The homeowner called police to report the situation, and while they were on the way the homeowner shot the would-be intruder.
Police spoke with the resident of the home and “later determined the injured man was intoxicated and had mistaken the residence for the home of an acquaintance who lives next door.”
Rapid City, South Dakota is roughly 300 miles north of Denver Colorado, or about 480 miles west of Minneapolis.
The guy who got shot is expected to survive, but really, it could have ended for him.
There is no explanation for why he was trying to break into his friend's home through a window. Chalk it up to alcohol and poor life choices.
Self-defense is a human right. Also, don't be stupid.
