At least they didn't go in for the "We demand Justice" line. Family mourns loss of man shot while breaking into Turlock home - Turlock Journal
The family of the dead guy describes as follows.
"He had four beautiful children and an open heart. He was a loving person and had a contagious smile," said Watkins.
That was before he was shot and killed during the commission of a home invasion.
The police department suspects Gastelo had broken into the home when he was shot. The homeowner contacted law enforcement and officers performed CPR on Gastelo until medical personnel arrived and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries.
But he had an infectious smile.
I get that the family is upset and in morning. Why does the reporter and/or the news organization think that any of these details are news worthy?
I suppose that since the police department will not give them any information about the guy who was forced to defend himself, they feel like they need to write something. They really don't. None of this is news. Your feelings, while they are important to you, don't mean anyone else cares.
From what little they said about the incident in question, and what was left unsaid, I will go out on a limb and say that the cops believe this shooting was justified. That is how it appears to me, anyway.
Turlock, California is about 55 miles east of San Jose, though much longer of a drive. Turlock is about a 14 mile drive southeast of Modesto.
Self-defense is a human right.
