Bad guys are still not getting the memo about that. Texarkana homeowner fatally shoots burglary suspect during confrontation | KTBS
Police say the homeowner confronted two people allegedly attempting to break into a vehicle.
During the encounter, one of the suspects was shot and later died at a local hospital.
The homeowner was not arrested, because this happened in Texarkana, Texas, not New York City.
Texarkana is on the Texas/Arkansas state line. It is about a 180 mile drive east of Dallas, or about a 75 mile drive north of Shreveport, Louisiana.
The Castle Doctrine in Texas allows you to use reasonable, even deadly force, to protect your home, vehicle, or business from unlawful entry, but it has limits: you must be lawfully present, reasonably believe deadly force is necessary to prevent serious harm or felony, and you can't be the aggressor or engaged in criminal activity.
The investigation is ongoing.
