Rick Beato Listened to These Songs, So You Don't Have To

So Rick Beato has been torturing himself with the Top 10 songs on the Top 50 USA Spotify playlist. You would think people would have better taste, but there you go.

It is interesting to get a glimpse of the world of Pop Music. A glimpse is all I can take.

There were three songs that I did like. Rick only plays about a minute or two of most songs, so I might go back are re-listen.

One was "Golden" from the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack. Which is a good song, but over produced. And even though I am disconnected from Pop music, almost entirely, I've heard it enough to be sick of it.

The second was "So Easy (To Fall In Love)" by Olivia Dean, which has a bit of a Bossa Nova feel. I will listen to this again. Her singing reminds me a bit of Sade. (Sade is better.)

And the third was "The Fate of Ophelia" by Taylor Swift. She can sing, but usually I find the song-writing poor. This one actually sounds like a song. I may have to come back to this one. I hate it when I have to admit I like a popular artist, even a bit. It was like when Lady Gaga proved she could sing. (I still hate most of the music.)

And even in the songs I didn't really care for, Rick pointed out that there was a distinct lack of Auto-Tune. Good. Auto-Tune was probably the worst thing to happen to music in the past 25 years.

And Bruno Mars had another song, that sounded exactly like his last 5 songs. Which is too bad, because the singing is good. The songwriting isn't. But then that song was #1 on the Spotify USA chart, so what do I know? (Though at this point, if a better song was written, it might also be #1, and appeal to more people.)

This is Rick Beato's video Why Do I Keep Doing This To Myself…The Spotify Top 10
