Amy Winehouse was an artist I had completely missed when she was alive. Since her death I have heard a number of her songs, and I have to say I am sorry I didn't pay attention sooner. It was a tragedy when she passed away so young. Listening to today's song I hear a great jazz, R&B singer, who like too many artists was gone too soon. She died at 27.
WXRT's Saturday Morning Flashback was revisiting 2006 (20 years ago?) on January 3rd.
This song is "Back To Black" by Amy Winehouse. It is the title song to her 2006 album. It was released in 2007 as the 3rd single from that album.
OMG, the synchronicity is strong today. I was poking around on my music server yesterday and this album caught my eye. I listened to it for the first time (I've ripped way more CDs than I've listened to) and I was blown away. IDK what I thought her style was, but I didn't think it was this. I listened to 'Rehab' about a half dozen times.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great sound. I was as surprised as I was by Hugh Laurie's version of St James Infirmary.

BTW, this album reminds me of Earl (although she's a bit more up and 'pop'.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Kj2_bGe3lo&list=PLhZb4JZfmtCarsXz-6ApWx4daUSRkO664
