Casino Royale

Do people even know that there was 1967 spoof of James Bond, staring Peter Sellers, with David Niven, Ursula Andress, and with Woody Allen playing a "Bond Villain?" It isn't very good, though I did like it as a kid. Some of the music was good.

The recent song by Herb Alpert sent me looking for some of his older work.

This is the Theme to the 1967 movie Casino Royale. It was written by Burt Bacharach and performed by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.

  1. Herb Alpert was a truly talented artist, vastly underappreciated. He did a lot of soundtrack work in the 60's.

  2. I remember seeing Casino Royale a couple of times at a drive-in (taking it way back) and liking it. It was silly, but of course the regular Bond movies were silly, and deserved some parodies. I also liked the books about Israel Bond, agent Oy Oy Seven of the Israeli secret service. I was young, and had a youngster's sense of humor.

    1. I liked it when I was a kid. It would show up on TV once in a while. I saw a bit of it recently, though I don't remember where, and realized how bad it really was.

As for Bond, Connery was good for the time, I've come to hate most of the Roger Moore run. Pierce Brosnan was probably best overall. (Nerdrotic called Golden Eye "peak Bond") I had hopes for Daniel Craig, and his Casino Royale was excellent, the rest not so much
