Hollywood Is Creatively Bankrupt - Example 271

I know, this is not exactly news. But they are now scraping the bottom of the barrel. Not that Gremlins was a bad movie, but there is no reason to "update it for a modern audience." Or whatever they think they are doing.

Aside from being creatively bankrupt, the traditional movie studios are not doing too well financially either, which is one of the reasons for the consolidation of studios. And don't look at the financial health of theaters, because they are hemoraging cash.

As Chris Gore and Allan Ng note, the first Gremlins movie was an outstanding monster movie, with a twist. The original Gremlin was cute and cuddly. The 2nd movie was not outstanding, at least I didn't see it that way. Sequels are rarely worth the price of admission, though Quentin Tarantino apparently likes it. Do we really need a Gremlins 3 thirty-seven years (or 39 years) later?

This is the Film Threat video GREMLINS RETURNS AFTER 37 YEARS WITH CHRIS COLUMBUS DIRECTING, featuring commentary by Allan Ng and Chris Gore.

I have no hope for this.

Allan notes that the original was done with practical effects, and it was wonderful. This iteration will be CGI overload from start to finish. The video 5 minutes long.
