It seems to be catching on. Concealed carry holder shoots car thief who tried to run him: report - CWB Chicago
The licensed gun owner called 911 around 7:14 a.m. and reported that two men had just stolen his blue 2023 Acura and attempted to hit him with it in an alley behind the 6800 block of South Cornell Avenue.
Less than five minutes later, a 23-year-old man arrived at the University of Chicago Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his lower back.
He was listed in critical condition. UChicago Medical is one of the trauma centers in the city, so I expect he will survive.
This took place in South Shore, one of the 77 neighborhoods community areas of Chicago. It is about 10 miles south of The Loop on the lake shore. It was a fairly nice neighborhood when I lived in Hyde Park, just to the north of there, with parks and beaches. I don't know what it is like today.
No charges have been filed, but the investigation is in early days. And you never know what a Cook County State's Attorney will decide to do. The the current holder of that office is a distinct improvement over the old State's Attorney.
