Hollywood Tries to Blame Lockdowns in 2025

Or at least Disney and their pet entertainment media are blaming the Lockdowns, and the mentality that people don't want to go to the movies, for a recent flop. (Pay no attention to the Box Office from Deadpool and Wolverine in 2024.) They are trying to "explain" why Tron: Ares is a flop. And it is a flop.

You see if they don't blame the Lockdowns and the Pandemic, they might have to own up to the fact that Disney no longer knows how to tell stories or make movies that appeal to broad audiences. Disney has proven that they are completely incapable of understanding that No One outside their Hollywood bubble wants to see another movie about a Girlboss. Not even if there are lots of special effects included in the movie.

Someone in Hollywood needs to notice...

  • The Tron movie without Tron was a flop
  • The Mad Max movie without Mad Max also flopped
  • Multiple Spider-Man movies that included no Spider-Man flopped.

That doesn't even address the Girlboss story arch that has been pushed in Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and more.

According to OMB Reviews, based on the best info we have so far on the money Disney spent on this film, the breakeven point for Tron: Ares is about $540 million at the box office. If you're interested in the details, see the OMB Reviews video Tron Ares is Another Flop for Disney.

Here is what Odin had to say.

I don't know how many times they have to do that and fail the box office to realize that method and that calculation just does not work. It does not actually sell tickets.

Gary "Nerdrotic" gives us Tron: Ares is AWFUL - Another Disney Flop.

How bad could it be? I never thought it was going to be great, but I didn't think I would hate it this much because F- this movie. I hate absolutely everything it represents.

Ryan Kinel chimes in with Tron: Ares BOMBS At The Box Office For Disney!

Ryan points out that this movie opened with a smaller box office than another, recent Jared Leto movie, Morbius.

The Telegraph has what Gary Nerdrotic called the greatest headline of the year. Tron: Ares is so bad it makes you wish AI would hurry up and destroy Hollywood

A shambolic film populated by some of the most aggressively charmless characters ever seen in a blockbuster
