It might be that he needs to learn how to interpret the phrase, "It's over," or something similar. SPD investigates man shot in alleged self-defense | WSAV-TV
This story is out of Savannah, Georgia.
Police determined that Keith King, 46, had been shot in alleged self-defense after an altercation with a female resident at the home. King was charged with simple assault and criminal trespass.
"Alleged Self-defense" is an interesting way to phrase it, but police don't make those determinations, the Prosecutor's office makes that call. Still, it seems clear whose side the police are on.
Self-defense is a human right. Guys, if she say's that it's over, believe her. Go out for a drink with your friends. Do something that won't result with you behind bars.

I read the linked article. It was skimpy on information. Not said is who is the lawful resident. My query is based upon an actual incident involving my brother.
ReplyDeleteBrother had invited his girlfriend to come over for a home cooked dinner. They enjoyed the dinner until she started acting out. She became belligerent. He asked her to leave.
She called the cops. The cops showed up, realized it is a he said/she said, took the easy way out and said brother is going to jail if he doesn't leave. They refused him to prove it was his place. They said that if he moves to go inside, they'll arrest him for trespass.
Brother was faced with arrest for trespassing if he entered his own home. He was the only lawful resident. The courts are turning from the favoritism of females towards a more neutral position . The police are lagging in that.
Yes, quite right, when she says it's over, man up and stay away. But in this case, it seems only an assumption at this point (based on the article).
I know of a married couple, now divorced, in which the wife called the cops to report her husband had beaten her. The cops arrested him on her word. She bore no marks, he was adamant he hadn't. Later, she confessed she to me that she had made it up. Her reason was because they had planned to go out for breakfast but at last minute changed her mind and said she will stay in to read a book. So business owner husband said in that case he'll go to work. She became irate and pushed him so violently that he fell backwards against a closet door which broke.
